Vitalpina Hotel Dosses is one of the most renownedhotels in Santa Cristina in beautiful Val Gardena.

Albert Schenk, the owner of the hotel, was born here in 1925. His life is full of fascinating stories and interesting anecdotes. First he went to elementary school in Santa Cristina, then continued his studies in Rovereto, and then for political reasons emigrated to the Austrian region of Vorarlberg.

After World War II, he moved to Rome to work at the Grand Hotel there, a fulfilling time during which he got to know many a hotel manager’s secret of success. Soon however he was needed to help his family in their business endeavors and he returned to Santa Cristina. His sister in the meantime had married and moved to Steinach in Austria, making it necessary for Albert to help out, and he did so with his customary swagger and enthusiasm.

In 1970 Albert took over Hotel Dosses from his father and immediately started implementing his own ideas, transforming the hotel from a small, traditional family business into a 4-star hotel of the very highest quality, which soon became known beyond the borders of South Tyrol.

1973 was a year of many changes and the hotel was fitted with an annex in the form of a hay stable, making it an even more harmonious part of the picturesque scenery around Santa Cristina.

In the following years, a number of facilities were added, such as the sauna area, whirlpool, beauty and fitness center, as well as the superb outdoor pool and gardens. Currently, the Western part of the hotel is being renovated, sign of the never-ending enthusiasm and willingness to innovate on the part of the
hotel owners.

Vitalpina Hotel Dosses focuses on comfort and well-being. The 50 spacious, airy rooms all have a lot of sun and partly balconies which offer superb vistas of the mighty Dolomites.

Even at 86 years of age, Albert Schenk has managed to keep his innovative spirit well alive, working in the hotel with great creativity and enthusiasm.
